Prepare The Surface

We take great care to ensure the area is clean, dry, and clear of all debris before moving on to the next stage. Depending on the current condition of your basketball court, preparation may include the following:

• Hand brooming

• Machine sanding

• Acid etching for concrete surfaces

Make Repairs

The thaw/freeze cycles in West Virginia, PA, and Ohio cause your basketball court paving to crack. Following heaving snow or rain, moisture seeps through the surface and into the area below. Temperature changes cause the water to expand, and cracks develop and grow over time. We repair the cracks in your courts using the following methods:

• A pourable, flexible crack filler for cracks 1/2-inch or less, available in green, red, and neutral colors

• A trowel-applied crack sealer for 'freeze-thaw" environments for cracks up to 1/2-inch wide, also available in green, red, and neutral

• Liquid binder mixed with sand and cement, which is also ideal for leveling low spots and depressions up to 1/2 inch deep.

Our crews use RiteWay Tru-Bounce Crack Repair for wide cracks. This seam tape utilizes an advanced exclusive technology that consists of a 100% solid formulation of synthetic resins, thermoplastics, and non-curing rubber. It has a built-in primer bonded to a woven polyester backing for maximum comfort. We clean and fill the crack, then apply the patented micro-sealant tape with an adhesive that does not harden or dry. A stress mat is applied next, with the edges bonded to the court and buffed smooth with a layer of color coating placed on top. Once complete, your players won't sense any difference in the finished surface.

Resurfacing

Once we complete surface repairs, we thoroughly blow the basketball court to remove dust and debris. Next, our court restoration specialists apply an acrylic resurfacer to create a consistent court surface texture or restore texture to a worn acrylic surface.

One coat is enough for a good-condition court. New asphalt, porous surfaces, or courts with extensive crack damage and low spots require two coats. We apply a 100% acrylic resurfacing product mixed with silica sand using an angular cut to ensure the color coatings we apply bond to the surface for a long-lasting, durable finish.

Painting

Finally, we paint and seal your competition-ready basketball court using top-of-the-line Sportsmaster Color Plus Fusion athletic court painting products. The Color Plus Fusion system gives you a choice of over 100 available colors for your sport playing surface. This 100% acrylic emulsion coating is mixed with ultra-fine mesh sand and water and applied with a soft rubber squeegee. Unlike the sand used in the acrylic resurfacer, this system uses round silica sand for the color coating to help minimize streaking or marks left by the squeegee application. We apply at least two coats and recommend additional coats for extended wear.

Once we have applied the overall court color, we precisely lay out markings using string lines using a specially designed tape machine and apply a primer to ensure crisp lines. After this dries, we paint your lines. The result is clean straight lines and a sports playing surface that your players can't wait to use.
